Craft Retreats

scrapbook from RelaxandScrapWeekendsI’ve written a lot of posts about some of the more glamorous places to visit in the U.S., but sometimes getting away from it all can be just what you need for a relaxing and creative girls trip.  I’ve looked into one of the latest trends in getaways and found there are quite a few places that specialize in craft getaways for women.  Usually set in scenic surroundings, these retreats have craft rooms with several work tables, die-cut tools and complimentary supplies.

Kerry Griffin and her friend opened the Craft Retreat House in Wisconsin Dells last year to offer women a place to go to relax, rejuvenate and create.  “We have craft rooms stocked with supplies & tools so that our guests can work on their craft while enjoying a wonderful getaway.  Our guests love it!”

Here are a few craft retreats to check out:

I will be opening a Bed and Breakfast on Whidbey Island, WA in late Feb. It will be called Soaring Eagle Lodge and I hope to specialize in craft retreats for ladies. I will be able to accommodate 6 ladies in 2 bedrooms. We have a 4,800 SF lodge like home with 100 foot tall tree’s and one side open to Puget Sound. I am in the process of developing my brochure and web-site now.

Hello, I will be opening a weekend craft retreat in Sammamish, WA (approx. 20 mi from downtown Seattle & approx. 16 mi from Bellevue) in May 2008. It will accommodate 8 people in 4 bedrooms. We’ll be offering a fairly pampered weekend with full meal, snack & beverage service along with plush bedding. We have a swimming pool & spa and are located next to a wooded hiking & bike trail. We are in the middle developing our website. It will be called Lizzy’s Craft Retreat.
