Royal Palms Resort and Spa (Scottsdale, AZ)

Royal Palms HotelRoyal Palms is the kind of secluded resort where you’d expect to see movie stars in dark sunglasses lounging by the pool.  The hotel and casitas are surrounded by lush gardens, antique fountains and towering palm trees. Located in Scottsdale near Camelback Mountain, Royal Palms’ main building is a 1929 Spanish Colonial mansion decorated with tapestries and antiques.  Since becoming a hotel in 1948, the resort has expanded to 117 casitas and guest rooms.  The grounds are especially beautiful at night.

Many people come to Royal Palms to dine at T. Cook’s.  Known for its romantic setting and excellent food, T. Cook’s was voted the #1 restaurant in Scottsdale/Phoenix by Food & Wine Magazine.  Have dinner or Sunday brunch at T. Cook’s or just stop by the piano bar for drinks and some live music.

During the day, guests can relax by the pool, have a spa treatment at the resort’s Alvadora Spa, go hiking around Camelback Mountain or rent a bike.  Shopping and art galleries are only a few miles away as well.

More intimate than many resorts in Scottsdale, Royal Palms is a perfect place to relax, bask in the sunshine by the pool and recharge amid beautiful surroundings.

I love the royal palms. I used to go there all the time a few years back. T Cooks is really good but I think the fancy pants restaurants are a bit over rated. I really just like outback steakhouse and more simple food but to each his own I guess. But when it comes to staying at a hotel I love the royal palms. Oh yeah the driveway is really cool too!

[...] Spa-going is a popular activity in Scottsdale, Arizona even during the holidays.  Yesterday my sister and I went to The Phoenician’s Centre for Well-Being for a facial.  After trying to book spa services at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, the Camelback Inn and the Royal Palms Hotel Spa – all of which were full -  we felt lucky to get the few remaining slots at The Phoenician.  The Phoenician, located on 250 acres at the base of Camelback Mountain, has been one of the top resorts in Scottsdale, AZ for many years.  Rooms rates average $500/night, so it seemed reasonable to assume the spa would be exceptional as well.
